So you want to run post purchase surveys but don't know where to start? Or maybe you've been asking some basic "how did you hear about us" questions but want to go deeper?
In 5 minutes you can be collecting data to help you answer questions like:
When someone first discovers my brand on TikTok, how long does it take them to purchase?
Is that timeline different than Google or Facebook? (spoiler, it probably is)
If someone is buying for themselves, where did they find you?
Is that different from people who are buying as a gift?
How many of my customers are buying for someone else, anyway?
Where do customers recorded as "direct" traffic say they're finding me?
Get Your Account
If you're seeing this guide you're probably not running surveys so we'll need to get you an account first. π
This set up requires the Analyst or Pro plans. Analyst ($119/month) is best if you're spending $10,000 to $100,000 in ads monthly. If you're over $100,000, you'll get more insight out of the Pro plan ($299/month).

Launch Your Survey
Go to Data->Surveys and add new survey (if you just signed up we'll take you straight there).
Skip the audiences section, and go to the questions section. Click the "Start with A template" button and search for the BFCM template.
Edit or delete any questions, set your styles, and publish! You're now live and collecting data. π
Create Your Audiences
For this survey we recommend the following 10 audiences. These will help you better understanding who's buying, and where they're coming from.
Discovery = Word of Mouth (people who said they first found you from word of mouth)
Discovery = Meta (people who said they first found you from FB or IG)
Discovery = TikTok (people who said they first found you from TikTok)
Discovery = Google (people who said they first found you from Google)
Last Click = Meta (order last click is Meta -FB or IG)
Last Click = TikTok (order last click is TikTok)
Last Click = Google (order last click is Google)
Last Click = Direct (order last click is direct)
Recipient = Self (people who bought this for themselves)
Recipient = Someone Else (people who bought for someone else)
To create your audiences go Data -> Audiences and click the button to create audiences.
Here you can use the templates to create these audiences in seconds.
If you've edited any of the question response options the template won't work for that audience, but you can create them manually by searching for the survey/question.
That's it! You're now collecting data.
