Re-Authorization in Shopify

On occasion, we make updates to our app to improve functionality and create a foundation for future feature builds. When we deploy these update, brands using Shopify are required to re-authorize the connection between their Shopify store and the KnoCommerce app.

NOTE: Survey functionality remains unaffected and your surveys will continue to collect data normally from your customers. However, access to the KnoCommerce account through the Shopify store may be temporarily restricted for some users until the connection is re-authorized.

When attempting to connect to KnoCommerce through the Apps section of your Shopify store, you may run into an invalid request error that looks like the screenshot below.

To fix this, complete the following steps!

  1. Log into Shopify - This must be done by a Shopify user that has permission to Manage and Install Apps and Channels. Just because you have access to KnoCommerce does not mean you can manage and install apps. The most common account to use to do this is the Store Owner email, but other users may also be given this permission.

  2. Click Apps in the menu on the left

  3. After clicking Apps, Shopify will automatically open a search bar at the top of the page. Search for Kno Post Purchase Surveys

  4. Click the KnoCommerce app option

  5. You'll be redirected to an Update/Re-Authenticate page that looks similar to the screenshot below

  6. Read through the changes on that page, then click Update App (upper right-hand corner)

  7. That will log into the KnoCommerce App and re-authenticate. Then other users will be able to log into KnoCommerce using the Shopify Connect method.
