1. In-App Reporting = Event-Based
The in-app reporting counts individual survey actions as events.
Examples of events:
Viewing a survey
Answering a question
Submitting a survey
If a customer sees a survey more than once and responds again, the in-app reporting deduplicates responses within the selected timeframe. If they change an answer, the original response is removed and only the most recent valid answer is counted.
This means the in-app reporting reflects cleaned, event-level activity.
2. CSV Export = Record-Based
The CSV export shows survey data at the customer record level.
Each row represents a customer paired with a survey. If a customer answers some questions, then later updates one of them:
The updated question reflects the most recent answer
Other questions retain their original responses
Responses stay tied to the timestamp when they were submitted
Because this is record-based (not event-based), totals may differ from the in-app reporting.
3. Timezone Differences Can Affect Dates
CSV exports use midnight to midnight UTC as the time stamp for a day, adjusted by the timezone set in your account (in your Settings section).
For example, if your account is set to Pacific Time and you export results for February 11, the CSV may show timestamps starting at 4:00 PM on February 10. That’s because 4:00 PM Pacific Time equals midnight UTC on February 11.
The UI reports will show you the data from midnight to midnight in the time zone that you have set in your settings.
