Overview
The Open-Text Autocomplete feature in KnoCommerce simplifies reporting by enabling predictive text suggestions in open-ended survey responses.
Autocomplete works across all survey environments:
Legacy Shopify
Shopify Extensibility
KnoLinks
Custom Embed
Note: This feature is only available on Pro & Enterprise Plans
Limitations
Autocomplete does not work inside the Shopify dropdown component itself.
To use with dropdown-style questions, select Dropdown – Other and rely on the free-text “Other” input for matching.
Currently, only previous customer responses are used for matching.
Pre-uploading a list of response options is not supported (feature request under consideration).
Please note that it may take 24-48 hours for our system to learn the responses!
*Known issue (Shopify Extensibility only): Matching may fail when the first character is included (e.g., typing “che” may not suggest “cheese pizza”). Our team is actively debugging this.*
Available Question Types
KnoCommerce has four different question types that utilize the Autocomplete text-matching feature:
Radio
The Radio button (single-select) question can utilize the Autocomplete for the 'Other' option.
Checkbox
The Checkbox question (multi-select) can utilize Autocomplete for the 'Other' option as well.
Text Questions
The Text question and TextArea question both utilize the Autocomplete feature for the main open-ended text options.
Set Up Guide
Step 1: Navigate to "Content"
Head to the "Content" section of your survey builder
Step 2: Enable Autocomplete
Once you navigate to the 'Content' modal for the question, you can enable Autocomplete:
Functionality
Suggestions appear once at least 3 characters are typed.
Matching is case-insensitive.
Autocomplete matches any part of a previously submitted response (e.g., typing “piz” would suggest “cheese pizza”).
Requires at least one previously submitted survey response to generate matches.
If no prior responses exist, no suggestions will appear.
